Shrewsbury Abbey

Opening Hours and Charges

Opening Hours:

Summer (April - October) : Monday-Sunday, 10am - 4pm (last entrace 3.45pm).

Winter (November - March) : Monday-Sunday, 10.30am - 3.00pm (last entrance 2.45).

Please note: Shrewsbury Abbey is largely dependent on volunteers to keep the Abbey open, so on rare occasions it may be closed during normal hours.  Futhermore, on Christmas Day and Boxing Day the Abbey is open only for Services.

If you have come from a distance to visit the Abbey, we do suggest you check on the website or with the office for events or services such as baptisms, weddings, and funerals, as the Abbey is still a functioning Parish Church.

Charges:

There is no charge for visiting the Abbey.

We respectfully ask a donation of 2 for the running and upkeep.

If there is a concert or exhibition in the Abbey building, there may be an event charge.

Group Visits:

We have a number of experienced guides and are glad to accommodate group visits. These can be booked with the Abbey Manager (contact details below).

We are also happy to provide refreshments for a group visit for a reasonable fee.

School Visits:

We welcome school groups of any age at the Abbey. We do request that they are booked at least one week in advance with the Abbey Manager, who can arrange a guide and suggest age-appropriate activities (contact details below).

Whilst there is no charge for such visits, we do welcome donations (which may be Gift-Aided).
